Glassdoor has a 1.1 on Trustpilot. We read the reviews.

1,103 reviews, 94% of them one star. What job seekers hit on Glassdoor, in their own words, and what Guap does about each.

A 1.1 out of 5

On 20 October 2026, Glassdoor's page on Trustpilot showed a TrustScore of 1.1 out of 5, from 1,103 reviews. 94% of them give one star. 2% give five.

Glassdoor is where people go to find out what a company is like before they apply: the reviews, the interviews, the pay. The reviews of Glassdoor are about getting to that information, and about whether it can be trusted once you do.

We make Guap, an app for finding and applying to jobs, so we read the newest reviews. Below is what people wrote, why it hits people early in their careers hardest, and what Guap does about each complaint. Where Glassdoor is still useful, we say that too.

Why it lands hardest when you are starting out

Glassdoor works on give to get: share a review or a salary, and you can read more. That is fair for someone with a job to review. If you are about to start your first one, you have nothing to give, and you are the person who most needs to know what you are walking into.

  • In a 2023 survey of 2,000 people aged 16 to 26 for Indeed (Indeed and Glassdoor share an owner), about 6 in 10 said they would never accept a job without reading employee ratings and reviews first, and 85% said it matters that a job posting lists the pay.
  • In Deloitte's 2025 survey of 14,751 Gen Z in 44 countries, 48% said they do not feel financially secure, up from 30% a year before. A bad pick of employer costs more when there is no cushion.

So the people most likely to want the information are the ones the wall stops first. One reviewer put it as a question, below.

Write a review to read one

This is the complaint that comes up most: you go to read about a company and get asked to write a review, add a salary or fill in a form first. Some reviewers had already written several and still hit the wall.

What Guap does. Job and company pages on Guap are public. You can read a role's full description and see a company's ghost count without an account, on the company pages. You only sign up to apply through Guap or track your applications.

In reviewers' own words:

“Well, what if someone does not yet have any work experience but tries to read up on a company before applying?”

Rebeka B., GB, Rebeka B.'s review on Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)

“I have reviewed every company I’ve ever worked for and included most info you can. Yet every single time I go to see anything, I’m blocked access in order to submit a review.”

Brett K., US, Brett K.'s review on Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)

“I went online to read some reviews, and was being forced to provide other data to read anything, and then forced to provide a review before I could read further, instead I closed my account!”

A phone number and a pile of data

The newest reviews add a second gate: a phone number before you can sign in, read or carry on, on top of an email address that was already checked.

What Guap does. Guap never asks for a phone number to sign up or sign in. You sign in with a code we email you, or with Google, and there is no check by text. Your number only reaches an employer inside an application you choose to send. Our privacy page says we do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising.

In reviewers' own words:

“All I wanted was to see the salary range for people in the position I'm targeting at a specific company. That shouldn't take four steps and a pile of personal data.”

Nathan B., US, Nathan B.'s review on Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)

“Can no longer login to my account without a phone number. Why should I share my phone number with a random website?”

“They want far too much personal data to access the site.”

Peter K., GB, Peter K.'s review on Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)

Reviews that disappeared

The third complaint goes to the heart of a review site. People say critical reviews of their old employers were removed, often with no reason beyond "guidelines", and some conclude the site leans towards the companies. We cannot see Glassdoor's moderation from outside, so these are the reviewers' experiences, not a finding of ours.

What Guap does. Guap does not host written reviews, so there is nothing to take down one by one. What it shows about a company is a single number: how many different Guap users got no reply from it in the past year, counted once at least three people marked an application Ghosted after two months or more of silence. A company cannot pay to have it removed.

In reviewers' own words:

“They heavily censor reviews so you basically can't say anything negative without your review being taken down.”

Paula B., GB, Paula B.'s review on Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)

“After posting honest, fact-based reviews about companies I actually worked for, my contributions were removed.”

“It looks like Glassdoor will just become an advertising platform for companies and employers. It is no longer on the side of the job applicant or employee.”

Stan W., GB, Stan W.'s review on Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)

“But still pro companies, regardless of how they treat their employees. Glassdoor is definitely not fair in that respect.”

Folded into Indeed

Glassdoor and Indeed belong to the same owner, Recruit Holdings. In July 2025 Recruit cut about 1,300 jobs, around 6% of the division that runs both, and said it would integrate Glassdoor into Indeed. Since then, many reviewers say they are pushed to sign in with Indeed. Glassdoor's own privacy policy says that once you connect the two accounts, you may not disconnect them.

What Guap does. A Guap account is not tied to another job site's account. Settings has a Delete account button that deletes your account and what is linked to it straight away. For now, uploaded CV files are removed when you email us; the privacy page says so.

In reviewers' own words:

“Indeed has destroyed Glassdoor. I am no giving you my phone number for my "security".”

Bori, ES, Bori's review on Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)

“I tried just going on and forced to connect to Indeed. I didn't even have a way to cancel and skip.”

“Their option to continue without the Indeed login does not work.”

Ian K., AU, Ian K.'s review on Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)

“If I want to delete my account, I should be able to click a "delete account" button. It should take me 2 seconds.”

Where Glassdoor still earns its place

Glassdoor holds years of first-hand accounts of what it is like to work somewhere, and some of the unhappy reviewers say the content is useful once you reach it. Salary ranges are the part most worth having, and the law is moving in your favour there: the EU's Pay Transparency Directive says an employer may not ask applicants about their pay history, and member states had until 7 June 2026 to make it law.

“The platform is quite useful for getting a general idea about company culture and salary ranges. The site is easy to navigate.”

What we would do

Read Glassdoor for patterns, not single reviews: the same complaint from five people over two years means more than one angry post. Ask about pay early: once your country has made the EU rule law, an employer may not ask what you earn now. And look at whether a company answers its applicants at all.

How we read the reviews

Guap wrote this, and Guap makes a job search app, so read it with that in mind. On 20 October 2026 we read Glassdoor's Trustpilot page, newest first. The 15 reviews quoted here are copied word for word from the reviews themselves, and each card links to its review. We cut full names to a first name and last initial and left everything else as written, typos included.

The score and the count change every day; the numbers here are the ones the page showed that day. Every other figure links to the page it comes from. We have no connection to Glassdoor, Indeed or Trustpilot, and none of them has seen or approved this article.

Questions

What is Glassdoor's Trustpilot score?

On 20 October 2026 it was 1.1 out of 5, from 1,103 reviews, and 94% of those reviews gave one star.

Why do people dislike Glassdoor?

The reviews we read are about having to write a review or share data before reading anything, being asked for a phone number, honest reviews being removed, and being pushed to sign in with Indeed.

Is Glassdoor part of Indeed?

Both belong to Recruit Holdings, which said in July 2025 that it would integrate Glassdoor into Indeed. Glassdoor's privacy policy says that once you connect a Glassdoor account to an Indeed account, you may not disconnect them.

Can I see what a company is like on Guap without an account?

Yes. Job and company pages on Guap are public, including how many Guap users got no reply from a company in the past year. Guap does not host written reviews.

Should I still use Glassdoor?

Yes, for patterns and pay ranges. Read many reviews rather than one, and check whether a company replies to its applicants.
